Iain (1966) born and bred in Scotland, is the 5th generation of a golfing family. He 1983 turned professional, and along with his normal work as head professional at G&CC Hoenshuis, he spends his spare time researching and studying of golf history. Iain has one of the largest collections of golf books and hickory golf clubs in Europe, and a unique collection of antique woods and irons that came from the oldest European golf clubs. He is a member of the British golf collectors society, the European association of golf historians and collector’s, is the official archivist of PGA Holland., a member of the NGF Heritage commitee and the foundation Early Golf.


Iain has had an impressive selection of historical articles published in many countries en languages, and has recently contributed, (as co-author) to the book, “The History of Golf in the Netherlands”, which was published in 2014 and Colf, Kolf and Golf in 2016. He was one of the team leaders co-ordinating the NGF‘s exhibition “Golf” which will took place in the Haags historic museum in 2014.

In the 1980’s, Iain learnt the art of club repair and restoration from a famous English club maker and he uses this knowledge during his current restoration projects.

Iain was the Dutch Professional Champion in1992 National senior champion in 2018,Iain plays regularly in hickory championships. Iain has won the German Open Hickory Championship in 2009, 2013 and 2015,

the French in 2010 and 2014, the English title in 2010, the Dutch in 2012 and 2017 and the European in 2013 and 2018
